DMV to Test New Drivers License Designs in Salem Beginning Next Week

Posted on December 12, 2018

Anyone whose drivers license has expired or otherwise needs to replace a lost card could be issued a newly designed license or identification card.

The Portland Oregonian reports this is a part of what state transportation officials are calling the biggest overhaul of the ID cards in 15 years.

The Oregon Department of Transportation reports a select number of DMV offices would test the card designs beginning mid-December ahead of a full state rollout expected in March of next year.

Two Salem DMV locations will be the test-dummies starting Monday.

They say anyone with a current card won’t have to take any action. The new cards have a more colorful design including Mount Hood on the back.
