Winter Storm Watch in Effect This Evening Through Tomorrow Afternoon for the Central Willamette Valley

Posted on February 24, 2019

A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from late tonight through tomorrow afternoon for the Central Willamette Valley including Salem, and the Greater Portland and Vancouver metro area.

Areas of wet snow occurring this morning. Local accumulations of up to 1 inch have already been reported, mostly in the hills. Additional accumulations of up to 2 inches is possible this morning, mainly east of Interstate 5 and above 500 feet in elevation.

Snow possible again late tonight through tomorrow, with additional snow accumulations of up to 6 inches possible. It is also possible that Clark County and Portland receive less than 1 inch of snow.

Travel could be very difficult at times and snow may very well impact the Monday morning commute. Impacts appear less likely for the Monday evening commute currently. Be sure to carry chains and a winter emergency kit if you must travel tomorrow, especially over the higher terrain. Be prepared for long delays Monday.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
