Salem Library Annual Food for Fines Program March 31-April 7

Posted on March 28, 2019

For this week only, March 31 – April 7, patrons can reduce their library overdue fines by bringing in non-perishables and basic need items to donate to Marion-Polk Food Share. Clear $1 in overdue fines from your library account for every canned food item donated. Larger donated items such as laundry detergent, peanut butter, liquid fabric softener, and vegetable oil can clear $3 to $5 in overdue fines, depending on item size.

Marion-Polk Food Share identifies their five “most-needed” items as peanut butter, tuna, shelf-stable dairy, grains and oats, and fruit.

Donated items need to have at least a 60-day future expiration date, be commercially sealed and packaged.

Food for Fines donations are accepted all week near the Floor 2 Ask Here Desk at any time when the library is open.
