A Salem Police officer has been released from Salem Health after receiving treatment for multiple gunshot wounds last night.

The incident happened at around 8:30 p.m. when the officer conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of Highland Ave. NE. During the stop a suspect shot at the officer. The suspect then fled the scene. The vehicle was located unoccupied shortly after the incident.

After more than four hours of K-9 searching, the suspect still remains at-large. The Salem Police Department and its partner agencies have suspended their tactical search for the suspect and have turned the crime scenes over to detectives.

Due to the ongoing investigation police cannot release any suspect information. More details will be released as they become available.
