Salem Police have identified the woman struck and killed by a southbound Union Pacific freight train yesterday afternoon. She is 46-year-old Michelle Manis of Salem.
Police responded to a call to the area of Marion St. NE and 12th St. NE at around 2:20 pm, yesterday. She was found deceased at the scene.
Numerous streets were closed while railroad officials conducted their investigation into the incident.
