Salem Police have identified 43-year-old Scott Gabriel Spangler of Dallas as the individual who died during the altercation with Polk County Interagency Narcotics Team investigation Wednesday.
Authorities say Spangler pulled a gun on the narcotics team when they tried to take him into custody.
According to state protocol on deadly force response, an outside agency must take on the role of lead investigative agency. The Salem Police Department has been assigned that role. The investigation is ongoing.
