Marion County has its first presumptive case of the novel coronavirus, public health officials announced Sunday morning.
According to the Salem Reporter, Gov. Kate Brown announced a total of seven new cases of COVID-19 at a news conference in Portland, doubling the state’s count to 14.
Brown declared a state of emergency in response to the increased count. The announcement will activate additional volunteer health professionals to help address the spread of the disease.
The Marion County case had no known contact with other cases, Marion County public health administrator Katrina Rothenberger said. Public health officials are tracing the person’s contacts over the weekend.
