Fatal Crash on Hwy 99E – Marion County

On Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at approximately 5:11 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a two vehicle crash on Hwy 99E milepost 36, near Gervais.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a Dodge Ram 2500, operated by Angel Hernandez-Cruz (33) of Mt. Angel, was northbound on Hwy 99E when the Dodge lost control and struck a Nissan pickup operated by Luis Morales-Ramirez (37) of Gervais.

Morales-Ramirez sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Hernandez-Cruz was transported to the Marion County Jail where he was lodged on charges of Manslaughter, Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII), and Driving While Suspended-Misdemeanor.

Hwy 99E was closed for approximately 4.5 hours.

OSP was assisted by Woodburn Fire Department, Hubbard Police Department, and ODOT.
