Marion and Polk counties are pleased with the significant progress of COVID-19 vaccinations in our counties and proud to partner with Salem Health and West Valley Hospital on expanded opportunities for vaccination clinics moving forward. As of Jan. 4, 2021, 4,694 Marion County residents have received vaccines and 1,370 Polk County residents have received vaccines.
Marion County Commissioner Kevin Cameron, board chair, said, “We are thankful to Salem Health and all of our hospital partners for their diligence in vaccinating health care workers and first responders in our community.” He continued, “There is nothing more important than the health and safety of our residents and we will do our part to make sure vaccines are administered as quickly as possible. These collaborative efforts will make sure our front line health, public safety, educators, and other workers will receive their vaccines in a timely manner.”
Skilled nursing and memory care facilities are receiving vaccines through partnerships with contracted pharmacies as part of the federal vaccine distribution program. The Marion and Polk County health departments continue to support our partners to ensure our most vulnerable residents receive this critical vaccine.
Salem Health and West Valley Hospital are important partners in vaccinating our communities and we appreciate their swift response to establish vaccine clinics at the Oregon State and Polk County Fairgrounds to ensure smooth and rapid allocation of vaccines.
Polk County Commissioner Craig Pope, board chair, said, “We are extremely grateful to all of our health care partners during this pandemic response and especially to Salem Health and West Valley Hospital for their leadership in vaccine distribution. Our collective focus now is to expedite vaccine administration and to assure we protect our most vulnerable and build confidence and health safety across Marion and Polk counties.”
Marion and Polk counties will continue to monitor vaccine distribution and make sure the COVID-19 vaccine is distributed in a fair and equitable manner. The counties are working with local partners to establish regular vaccination clinics. As more information becomes available, it will be shared to the Marion County COVID-19 vaccine web page.
