Posted on February 1, 2021

Firefighters have had quite the year with deadly fires, smoke, and the pandemic creating one of the most challenging years ever.  The Salem Fire Foundation’s goal is to support the Salem Fire Department and help the city have the highest cardiac save rate in the nation.  This year, they’re holding an online auction to raise funds to support this mission.

Spark of Love: A virtual auction for the Salem Fire Foundation will begin at 7:00 am Feb 5, and bids will close Feb. 10 at 7:00 pm. Guests can view items on the auction website at with no obligation.  Free registration allows people to bid on items.  No credit card information is required to register and only needed if a top bid is received.

Lesa Goff from Bank of the Pacific and Vice President of the Foundation is excited that there is an opportunity to raise funds in a safe and fun way.  “The community has come together to support the Department and the Foundation for this event.  We’ve received everything from a condo in Mexico, antiques and car washes.”  She added a unique contribution came from Salem Fire Chief Mike Niblock.  “Chief Niblock has donated his collection of first-run challenge coins and fire department shoulder patches.”

Other items include:

  • An automatic external defibrillator (AED)
  • A Sunriver Get Away.
  • Chief Niblock has included his personal collection of challenge coins and patches.
  • A BBQ with all the tools
  • Make-up, hair, jewelry, facials, yoga
  • Sweets for Your Valentine
