City of Salem – 04/07/21 3:00 PM

As part of continuing efforts to provide a safe and resilient City of Salem water system, new water line construction on Sunnyside Road SE between Woodmansee Street SE and Boone Road SE will begin in late April 2021.

Construction and re-paving will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Working in short segments will help maintain two-way traffic with one-lane closures. Flaggers and temporary traffic control measures will be in place to guide traffic. Local business and residential access will be maintained.

The City is working with Cherriots to temporarily relocate bus stops that are affected by construction. Visit www.cherriots.org/alerts for details about bus stops in the work zone.

Construction of the new waterline is part of the larger efforts in Woodmansee Park to improve and expand the City of Salem’s existing Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) system.  This system stores clean drinking water for backup use in a natural underground aquifer in Woodmansee Park.

Construction on the Sunnyside waterline is expected to continue through August 2021. Please use extra caution through this area this summer and should expect some delays.
