It was a deadly holiday weekend on Oregon roads…

A single car rollover crash closed OR 221 (Salem-Dayton Highway) between Salem and Dayton Saturday afternoon around 5:30p. The vehicle took out a power pole and power line and also caused a wildfire. Fire crews were able to put the flames out quickly. Power crews repaired the pole and power lines in about 45 minutes. No word on the driver’s condition.

A head on car accident killed a woman from Eugene Friday night. Oregon State Troopers say it happened on Hwy 38 around 8:43 PM near milepost 3. Investigators say Robyn Loonam was driving a Nissan Pathfinder that had driving complaints several minutes before she collided with a Toyota 4-Runner. Loomam was killed instantly. Joely Jimenez and his passenger were taken to the hospital with injuries. Hwy 38 was closed for nearly 2 hours for investigation.

Salem police and firefighters responded to a motorcycle crash near Fairway DR and Lexington CR SE Friday night. Police say David Patrick Lewallen of Jefferson was driving southbound on Fairway DR when he could not negotiate the curve near Lexington CR and left the roadway, striking multiple objects. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A Sherwood man was killed in rollover accident on I-5 just Southbound of the Coburg interchange Sunday morning. Oregon State Police say Kristan Birni fell asleep at the wheel around 8:15am on I-5 Southbound near milepost 199. The Tacoma hit a freeway sign, rolling over several times before coming to rest in the Southbound lane. Birni and her passenger, Patrick Dorme, who both were wearing seat belts, suffered serious injuries. The rear seat passenger, Alexander Haluk of Sherwood, was not using a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.  He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
