One Person Died in a Fatal Saturday Morning House Fire

A fatal 2nd alarm house fire occurred this morning in Marion County shortly after midnight. Marion County Fire District #1 with assistance from Salem Fire Department, Keizer Fire District and Falck Ambulance responded to 38th and blossom around 12:45 am. Marion County Sheriff’s deputies arrived first and reported the home fully involved which housed 9 occupants one which was unaccounted for.

Heavy fire conditions restricted any search and rescue attempt. Fire was controlled in about an hour and a victim was discovered deceased inside.  It is unclear if smoke detectors were installed or working at the time of the fire. The name of the victim is not being released at this time awaiting family notifications. The cause of the fire remains under investigation in a joint effort with Marion County Fire District #1, Oregon State Police and the Oregon State Fire Marshall.  Woodburn Fire Department provided coverage during the event.
