On March 9th, 2022, at shortly before 5:30 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the area of Hayesville Drive NE near Reimann Street NE in the unincorporated area of East Salem after a 911 caller reported a shooting that had just occurred. When first responders arrived in the area, one victim was located with serious injuries. The victim was taken by ambulance to an area hospital.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Unit have been called out to investigate the incident. This is an active investigation; no arrests in connection with the shooting have been made. Information about the victim in the shooting and their medical status is not available for release at this time.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Keizer Police Department, Marion County District Attorney’s Office, Marion County Public Works, and the Salem Police Department.
