Hoopla Takes to the Streets in Salem

Salem, Ore. — Hoopla is celebrating its 23rd year in 2022 and is ready to play July 13 through July 17, as Oregon’s largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament.

The tournament invites more than 950 teams, 3,500 participants, and 700 volunteers of all skills and ages to lace up their sneakers and compete against the backdrop of the Oregon State Capitol Grounds in Salem, Or. Event information can be found at http://oregonhoopla.com.

Beginning Monday, July 11, at 6 p.m. through Sunday, July 17, at 9 p.m., drivers should avoid the following areas and anticipate heavy parking and pedestrian traffic. The following streets near the State Capitol will be closed as courts are set up for the basketball tournament:

  • Court Street NE between 12th Street NE and Cottage Street NE
  • Winter Street between Chemeketa Street NE and Court Street NE
  • Waverly Street NE between Court Street NE and State Street

From Thursday, July 14, at 6 p.m., to Sunday, July 17, at 9 p.m., the following streets will be closed for the tournament.

  • Cottage Street NE between Court Street NE and State Street

From Friday, July 15, at 6 p.m., to Sunday, July 17, at 9 p.m., the following streets will be closed for the tournament:

  • Cottage Street NE between Chemeketa Street NE and Court Street NE

All streets are expected to reopen by Sunday, July 17, at 9 p.m.
