Beginning in September, Cherriots will introduce a new connection between the communities of Keizer, Woodburn, and Wilsonville.
A new regional express bus route, Route 80X – Wilsonville/Keizer Express, is a weekday route that originates at the Keizer Transit Center, makes a stop at the Woodburn Memorial Transit Center, and then continues on to the Wilsonville Transit Center. The same stops are made on the return trip.
This new service was created in response to the Woodburn community members who needed a more express connection to Wilsonville and Keizer. For those still needing to get to other areas of Salem, Cherriots offers frequent, 15-minute service from the Keizer Transit Center to northeast and downtown Salem.
“Our mission is to create community connections and the launch of the 80X does just that by connecting Keizer, Woodburn, and Wilsonville,” said Ian Davidson, Cherriots board president. “We heard from the community that this connection was needed, and thanks to support from the Oregon Legislature we are now able to meet this need.”
Route 80X service begins Tuesday, Sept. 6, and will provide four round-trips daily. And during the month of September all rides on the 80X are on the house!
“We are thrilled that Cherriots is providing this new service, allowing the good people of Keizer and Wilsonville to visit and do business in downtown Woodburn and experience our rich cultures and vibrant community, while giving access to our residents to travel north and south,” said Woodburn Mayor Eric Swenson.
Cherriots designed connections to SMART transit in Wilsonville and Cherriots Local buses in Keizer to be as seamless as possible.
The Woodburn Memorial Park and Ride is served by two other transit providers: the City of Woodburn Transit System and the Cascades Point bus service, operated by the Oregon Department of Transportation, to provide connections to downtown Woodburn, Tualatin, and Portland.
Connections with SMART Wilsonville buses at the Wilsonville Transit Center are timed with the Route 80X schedule, as well as the TriMet WES trains that serve Tualatin, Tigard, and Beaverton.
