New Salem Permitting Process Takes Effect After October 7

Posted on October 7, 2022

Salem, Ore. – All new permit applications submitted electronically after October 7 will be processed using new ProjectDox ePlan software designed to improve the review process.

Changes to the process are outlined as part of the Submit Electronic Plans page.

An online training is scheduled:

Introduction to ProjectDox for Applicants
Tuesday, October 18, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Zoom link: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/86911795915?pwd=bWdENENvd2hHNXhtOUtpS2dZbEJ3QT09
Meeting ID: 869 1179 5915
Passcode: 305288

Registration is not required. Anyone who wants a step-by-step introduction to the applicant tasks (upload, responding to review comments, resubmitting) is welcome.

EPlan is already in use in Hillsboro and Portland. When Salem implements the system, the City will use the same naming conventions as Hillsboro to help standardize the application process between cities.

The update is part of a more than year-long process of permitting improvements. Goals of improving the overall process are to:

  • Provide accurate and consistent plan review,
  • Standardize the process, and
  • Improve timing and accountability.
