Melody Arrequin (23) of Turner has been arrested and lodged at the Marion County Jail. Melody turned herself in last night after a grand jury indicted her on criminal charges of Manslaughter 1, DUII, and Reckless Driving. The investigation showed intoxication and speed were found to be causal factors in this crash which killed Matthew McBridge.
The family of Matthew McBride does not wish to be contacted by the media and would appreciate their privacy being honored and respected. There is no further information available at this time.
On Thursday, October 1e, 2022, at just before 9:00 p.m., a 911 caller reported a serious motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Marion Road SE and Mill Creek Road SE, just east of Turner. Emergency responders arrived on scene to find black Subaru WRX and a gray Kia Sportage had been involved in a head-on collision.
Tragically, the driver of the Kia Sportage did not survive the collision. The driver of the Kia has been identified as Matthew McBeth (53) of Turner.
The driver of the Subaru WRX has been identified as Melody Arreguin (23) of Turner. She is currently in critical condition at a Portland area hospital.
There were no known passengers in either vehicle at the time of the crash.
Investigators from the Marion County multi-agency CRASH team were called out to the scene. Preliminary information leads investigators to believe the Subaru WRX was traveling west bound prior to the crash, striking the Kia Sportage in the oncoming lane. Contributing factors to the crash are still under investigation.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Aumsville Fire District, Aumsville Police Department , Keizer Police Department, Marion County District’s Attorney’s Office, Marion County Public Works, METCOM 911, Turner Fire District, and Willamette Valley Communications Center during this response.
