Budget, Capital Improvements, Safe Salem Top Monday’s Salem City Council Meeting Topics

Salem’s City Council is scheduled to meet Monday, June 26, at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers. Topics considered by City Council, Urban Renewal Agency Board, and Housing Commission will include:

  • Adoption of the City’s Budget, Urban Renewal Agency, and Downtown Parking District Budgets for Fiscal Year 2024, beginning July 1, 2023
  • Adoption of the Capital Improvement Program for Fiscal Year 2024 through Fiscal Year 2028
  • Salem Housing Authority acceptance of a $75,200 grant from the Mid-Willamette Valley Homeless Alliance for Yaquina Hall stabilization.
  • Public hearings on a zone change and Salem Revised Code amendment to repeal overlay zones in the SCAN neighborhood, and a supplemental budget
  • Intergovernmental agreement with Marion County Communication and Dispatch for support to the St. Paul Rodeo
  • Adoption of the 2023 Neighborhood Traffic Management Plan, and a federal grant application for 20 is Plenty and Vision Zero
  • Collective bargaining agreements with 911 Communications Employees Association and with City Attorneys Collective Bargaining Unit
  • Agreement with the Siletz Tribe to provide municipal services to an anticipated affordable housing development
  • First reading of an ordinance to implement the Safe Salem employee paid payroll tax, and for an annexation of 4.21 acres in southeast Salem
  • Information reports on regional scenario planning to meet new State Climate Friendly and Equitable Community rules, an implementation plan for downtown on-street paid parking, and the City’s 2023-24 partnership with the University of Oregon’s Sustainable City Year Program.

City Council and Budget Committee meetings are streamed live – in English, Spanish, and American Sign Language on the City of Salem YouTube Channel and CC:Media Channel 21. Community members will also be able to continue to sign up to participate in the meetings remotely.
