Salem, Ore. — One juvenile male was transported to the Salem Hospital Emergency Department (SHED) with a non-life-threatening stab wound, and Salem Police officers arrested three male juveniles yesterday evening after responding to a stabbing call at 480 Center St NE.
At approximately 5:58 PM on June 27, 2023, Patrol officers responded to a stabbing call, where they located a male juvenile in a restroom at the mall, with a stab wound. Patrol officers were able to determine the stabbing was as a result of a fight involving 10-15 juvenile males which occurred at the northwest corner of High St NE and Chemeketa St NE.
Officers attempted to contact a group of male juveniles, who were suspected to be involved in the fight. One male juvenile ran and was caught a short while later after he had thrown a handgun away. Two other juvenile males were taken into custody after it was determined they were involved in the fight.
The three teens, two aged 16 and one aged 17, were arrested and lodged at the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center. One of the 16-year-olds is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and all the boys are charged with Riot.
The teens are not named because the Salem Police Department does not identify minors involved in criminal investigations. No further information is available for release as this is an ongoing investigation.
