Salem, Ore. — This week Salem is proud to host three major events within the City. Motorists should expect some temporary road and park closures as organizers begin to set up for Salem’s most popular attractions.

IRONMAN Oregon 70.3 – Salem is hosting the third IRONMAN Oregon 70.3 Triathlon, Sunday, July 23. Several road closures are planned from Riverfront Park in downtown Salem towards the Ankeny Natural Wildlife Refuge along River Road South on the day of the event. Riverfront Park will also have some parking restrictions and limited access to the park as IRONMAN sets up for the event. Information is being sent to residents that live along the racecourse and signs will be posted to warn drivers of the potential traffic impacts that may occur throughout the day.

If you plan to attend, find more information on parking in downtown Salem.

Salem Art Fair – The 74th Annual Salem Art Fair & Festival, Friday – Sunday, July 21-23, 2023. The northbound lane of High Street between Bush Street SE and Miller Street SE will experience temporary closures as volunteers set up for the event Wednesday, July 19, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 20. Temporary closures will also be in place Sunday, July 23, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. after the event.

On Sunday, July 23, traffic and parking could be impacted by the IRONMAN Oregon 70.3. Those visiting Bush Pasture Park for the Salem Art Fair should use 12th Street SE and avoid lane closures on Front Street and Commercial Street.

Hoopla 2023 – Salem’s premiere 3×3 basketball tournament, Hoopla, is returning for its 24th year. The tournament invites more than 950 teams, 3,500 participants, and 700 volunteers of all skills and ages to lace up their sneakers and compete against the backdrop of the Oregon State Capital. This year’s event will take place along State Street, behind the Oregon State Capital Building. Road closures for the event will begin Monday, July 24,  at 6 p.m. Residents of Salem should expect detours along State and Court Streets between Cottage Street NE and 12th Street SE.

The event wraps up Sunday, July 30, and road closures will be lifted by 9 p.m.
