During last night’s shots fired investigation, investigators with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office discovered three separate victims who received gunshot wounds. One victim has died as a result and two others were injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment. The names of those involved are not being released at this time.
The suspect in this incident has been identified and is in custody. There is no reason to believe there is any outstanding threat to the public. This investigation is still on going and we are not prepared to release any further details currently.

On August 17th, 2023, at about 9:55 PM, Marion County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a shots fired in the 800 block Shawnee Dr SE, Salem, in the Four Corners Neighborhood. Deputies responded to the scene and are actively investigating this incident. No further information is prepared to be released at this time.
