Salem, Ore. — A 32-year-old Salem man was arrested today during the service of a warrant at a home in southeast Salem.
Tyler Joel Alvis was arrested this morning at approximately 7:00 a.m. by Strategic Investigations Unit detectives at a residence in the 5000 block of Coloma CT SE. The detectives were assisted by a small contingent of tactical officers and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The search of the home resulted in the seizure of four firearms (two semi-automatic AR style rifles and two handguns), a small quantity of suspected fentanyl, and associated paraphernalia.
Alvis was lodged at the Marion County Jail on the charges of felon in possession of a firearm (four counts) and an outstanding parole violation warrant. He is due to be arraigned on Monday, February 5, at the Marion County Criminal Court Annex.
The investigation which led to Alvis’ arrest was the result of the Salem Police Strategic Investigations Unit’s involvement in the Safe Streets Task Force, a partnership with the ATF, FBI, and other federal partners to bring increased focus and resources to address violent crime and narcotics trafficking in Salem.
