The City of Salem has launched a new project to develop Salem’s first Housing Production Strategy. As the city creates this strategy, it will explore policies and actions that the City can take to promote the development of a variety of housing types.
The city will engage the community, as it look to:
- Confirm Salem’s housing needs
- Conduct a market study that focuses on the feasibility of housing development in mixed-use areas in Salem
- Develop strategies to encourage the production of housing
Watch for opportunities to help develop the Housing Production Strategy, including focus groups, public meetings, and interviews.
This project will advance the goals and policies in the updated Comprehensive Plan, which was adopted in 2022.
