City of Salem Introduces Interactive Way to Test Your Skills at Balancing the City’s Budget

Posted on April 27, 2024

Balancing Act is an interactive tool that lets you balance the budget. It starts with the fiscal year 2025 General Fund and lets you increase or decrease funding for specific programs and services.

The simulation begins in a deficit, so you can consider reductions to existing City programs and services or the addition of revenue to balance the budget. The tool provides more information about each decision and guides you through the process.

By looking at how our residents balance the budget, we will learn about your priorities. Your results will be shared with the Budget Committee and City Council. Your feedback can strengthen how we provide services to our community.
