The City of Salem announced that an overflow of untreated sewage occurred into Glenn Creek on February 26, 2025, at approximately 9:05 pm near 918 Creek CT NW. The overflow was caused by a blockage in the sewer line. City utility crews were immediately dispatched to the location and cleared the blockage by 12:00 am. Approximately 875 gallons of untreated sewage were spilled.
Signs are being placed to warn residents to avoid water contact in Glenn Creek due to potentially high levels of bacteria. Water quality samples are being taken and will continue to be taken until the results indicate that the issue has been cleared. Any bacteria that entered the site should be flushed out of the water body in the next few days.
