Lawmakers voted along party lines this week to send to the full House a bill that would enact several changes to a controversial gun control ballot measure. The Statesman Journal reports that House Bill 3075 would alter Measure 114, which Oregonians narrowly approved in 2022. Implementation of the measure has been on hold due to court challenges. Last month, the Oregon Court of Appeals ruled Measure 114 was constitutional. House Bill 3075 would modify Measure 114, increasing permit fees and lengthening processing times. House Bill 3076 would establish a licensing program for gun dealers with tiered fees and various operational requirements. Senate Bill 243 includes a 72-hour waiting period for firearm transfers and a ban on rapid-fire activators.
