Salem, Ore. – The City expects to reopen its splash pads (spray fountains) this summer starting June 13 as usual, the day after school ends. City staff are inspecting all of the splash pads, troubleshooting and making repairs needed to operate them by that date.
Work on the splash pads started later than usual this year because of uncertainty about the City’s budget for 2026. This uncertainty was tied to the results of a vote on May 20 about a local funding measure. If the measure had failed, the neighborhood splash pads would not have been turned on this summer. However, since the measure appears to have passed, the splash pads are expected to operate as usual.
As long as no major repairs are needed, the City plans to have the splash pads ready for public use on Friday, June 13.
