A Scio man will spend the rest of his life behind bars after being convicted of repeatedly sexually abusing a minor over several years in Linn and Marion counties.

Following an extensive investigation by Sergeant Caleb Riley and Detective Tracy White that began in March 2025, 49-year-old Chad Edward Kastle was found guilty in Linn County Circuit Court of multiple charges, including three counts of Rape in the First Degree, four counts of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, Sodomy, Unlawful Sexual Penetration, and Attempt to Commit a Class B Felony.

Kastle was sentenced today to 102 years in prison. Authorities say the victim was known to him.

Linn County Sheriff Michelle Duncan commended both investigators for their diligent work and praised the victim for their courage in coming forward, saying the case reflects the department’s commitment to protecting children and delivering justice.
