The City has started a Housing Code Project to update Salem’s zoning rules and encourage more housing development. We want to hear your ideas! The Community Planning and Development Department is working with developers and the community to identify barriers to building housing. This includes reviewing building and design rules, what types of housing are allowed or not allowed, the approval process and other zoning rules.
The code project stems from Salem’s Housing Production Strategy, which was adopted by the Salem City Council in May. Learn more about the Housing Production Strategy on the project website.
