Salem Police have arrested 28-year-old Frank Donovan Eckel of Salem in connection with a violent robbery outside Wallace Marine Park. Investigators say that in the early morning of August 3, Eckel assaulted a victim, threatened them with a knife, and stole their backpack. The victim was taken to Salem Health with multiple injuries. On August 12, detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit served a search warrant at a home on Brush College Road NW, taking Eckel into custody without incident. He is being held at the Polk County Jail on charges of first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, and unlawful use of a weapon.
