Just before 8:00 p.m. on September 20, 2025, Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a serious two-vehicle crash near the 2400 block of Cordon Road NE in Salem.
Deputies determined that a northbound Volkswagen Jetta crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a Buick Enclave.
Tragically, four male passengers in the Jetta, all believed to be in their late teens to early 20s, were pronounced deceased at the scene. Two additional occupants from the Jetta, including the driver and a front passenger, were transported to area hospitals with serious injuries. Occupants of the Buick, including an adult driver and two children, were also transported to Salem Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
The driver of the Jetta, 23-year-old Saul Hernandez-Roblero of Salem, was later arrested following medical treatment. Hernandez-Roblero faces the following charges:
- Manslaughter in the First Degree (x4)
- Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII)
- Reckless Endangering Another Person (x5)
- Reckless Driving
Hernandez-Roblero remains in custody at the Marion County Jail and is scheduled for arraignment at 2:30 PM on September 22nd, 2025 at the Marion County Court Annex.
