Cherriots’ board of directors wasn’t scheduled to vote last night on a payroll tax proposal that has local business groups up in arms. According to the Salem Reporter, Board members, who are appointed by the governor, said they’re likely to decide later this fall whether to impose the tax or take it to voters. But the Salem Chamber has urged opponents of the tax to speak out against it. There’s one remaining Cherriots open house to ask officials questions about their plans for the tax and service expansions. That’s on Tuesday, Sept. 30, from 2:30-5:30 p.m. at Seymour Center, 375 Portland Rd. N.E. #190.
