The first significant storm event of the season is expected to impact the Salem area beginning today, October 24 and continuing through the weekend. This storm will bring gusty winds and periods of moderate to heavy rain, according to the National Weather Service.
During the storm, strong winds and heavy rainfall may cause leaves to collect on storm sewer catch basin grates, increasing the likelihood of standing water on roads.
As leaves begin to fall, they can clog drains and create hazards for drivers. Stay safe by clearing debris from storm drains and avoiding flooded streets.
If you see any issues on Salem’s roadways, call our Public Works Dispatch Center at 503-588-6311.
