A Wind Advisory is in effect from 7 a.m. today through 4 a.m. Tuesday, with Marion and Polk counties expected to feel the impact of gusty southwest winds combined with already saturated soils.
The National Weather Service reports winds of 15 to 25 miles per hour, with gusts reaching 35 to 45 miles per hour. While the strongest winds are expected along the Coast Range, the Central Willamette Valley — including Marion and Polk counties — may still see periods of powerful gusts capable of downing trees and causing scattered power outages.
Forecasters note that winds will not remain at peak intensity all day, but the risk of damage increases when strong gusts occur, especially with the ground heavily soaked from recent storms. Confidence is high that at least isolated to scattered impacts will be felt across the mid-Valley.
Residents are urged to use caution when driving, especially high-profile vehicles, and to secure outdoor items like garbage cans or decorations that could become airborne in the wind.
