Drive Sober in Salem or Get Pulled Over

Posted on December 27, 2025

Now through January 1, 2026 is the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement period. The Salem Police Department will have dedicated DUI enforcement cars on the road throughout the holidays.

Chief Trevor Womack reminds everyone: “As we head into the holidays, remember that impaired driving doesn’t slow down. This past weekend alone, our officers handled 780 calls for service and arrested seven impaired drivers — four after crashes. These are preventable tragedies. We’ll continue enforcing DUI laws, but we also need the community’s help: make safe choices, plan a sober ride, and help keep our roads safe for everyone.”
