SALEM, Ore. — Two popular Salem park playgrounds will close beginning Monday, April 13, as the city begins improvement projects aimed at upgrading play areas for families and children.
At Riverfront Park, the playground will shut down for a full replacement project. Dalke Construction, the general contractor for the job, will install a construction fence around the playground area, and several parking spaces in the south parking lot will be temporarily used as a staging area during the work. In addition, the restroom closest to the playground will be closed for the duration of construction.
City officials say work at Riverfront Park is expected to be completed by mid- to late-summer.
Meanwhile, the Crooked House Playground at Bush’s Pasture Park will also close on April 13. That project will focus on replacing the playground’s play surface. Both Riverfront Park and Bush’s Pasture Park will receive new synthetic grass playground surfacing systems designed to improve safety and usability.
The Crooked House Playground is expected to reopen in early summer.
Visitors are encouraged to plan ahead and use other park amenities while construction is underway.
