A Salem woman was seriously injured Thursday morning in a fatal head-on crash on Highway 18 in Lincoln County.

Oregon State Police say the crash happened at about 10:10 a.m. July 2, near milepost 1. Investigators say a gray Nissan pickup driven by 35-year-old Bryan James Anderson of Grand Ronde was headed east when, for unknown reasons, it crossed into the westbound lane.

The Nissan collided head-on with a blue Ford Maverick pickup driven by 63-year-old Jenny Fiddyment Wiens of Salem.

Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say he was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt.

Wiens was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Highway 18 was impacted for about three hours while investigators worked at the scene. Oregon State Police were assisted by North Lincoln Fire & Rescue and the Oregon Department of Transportation.

The crash remains under investigation.
