Woodburn, OR: On Friday, July 24, 2026, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Woodburn Police officers responded to a fatal crash involving a motor vehicle and a bicyclist on the Interstate 5 overpass on Newberg Highway.
The initial investigation indicates that a vehicle driven by Jose Quevedo-Vazquez (18) of Salem was traveling westbound and entered the right lane to access southbound Interstate 5. At the same time, Travis Martin (29) of Aurora was traveling westbound on a bicycle and entered the roadway from the sidewalk, crossing in front of the vehicle. The driver remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. At this time, preliminary information does not suggest the crash was criminal in nature. Impairment and speed do not appear to have contributed to the crash.
The bicyclist, Travis Martin, was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he was later pronounced deceased. The driver was not injured. The roadway was closed during the investigation.
