Salem Mayor Julie Hoy on Monday motioned to consider new applicants for the city’s budget committee instead of reappointing two incumbents, a move Salem City Councilor Vanessa Nordyke called a “last ditch” effort to get the two men thrown off the committee for political reasons.
The motion was ultimately voted down 6-2 with Nordyke joining Salem city councilors Micki Varney, Paul Tigan, Deanna Gwyn, Irvin Brown and Council President Linda Nishioka in voting against it.…
