Posted on October 6, 2026

State Representative Paul Evans of Monmouth is facing DUI, reckless driving and hit-and-run charges after an early Sunday morning incident in Independence. The Salem Reporter says police allege Evans struck and damaged a stop sign at Main and B streets, then left the scene. Officers later found him nearby. A breath test reportedly measured his blood alcohol at point-one-six percent — twice Oregon’s legal limit. Evans pleaded not guilty and says he’s seeking inpatient treatment.
