SALEM, Ore. — Oregon officials announced October 8 that the state had recovered $32.8 million for consumers through work by the Oregon Division of Financial Regulation.
Gov. Tina Kotek’s office said the recoveries come as the administration works to strengthen consumer protections amid changes to federal safeguards.
The announcement places a spotlight on the role of state regulators in helping residents address financial disputes and protecting consumers in an evolving regulatory environment.
For people across Marion and Polk counties, consumer protection issues can affect household budgets, insurance matters and financial services. Residents who believe they have experienced an unfair financial practice can consult state regulatory resources to learn about available complaint and assistance processes.
The announcement did not, by itself, establish how much of the recovered money went to residents in the Salem-Keizer area. Additional details from state regulators would be needed to determine the local impact.
The state says its broader effort is focused on protecting consumers and returning money to Oregonians.
