Salem-Keizer Public Schools is continuing to face questions from families and educators over a proposal to close six elementary schools at the end of the 2026–27 school year. The schools named in the proposal are Brush College, Candalaria, Cummings, Englewood, Liberty and Richmond. Families have raised concerns about transportation, classroom capacity, special education services and whether the projected savings would justify the disruption. A final decision is expected December 8 according to The Salem Reporter.
