Marion County is moving ahead with plans to install another ballot drop box ahead of Oregon’s November third election. County commissioners voted Wednesday to approve an agreement with Marion County Fire District for a new drop box at 300 Cordon Road Northeast. The Salem Reporter says the decision follows a public dispute over delays in adding ballot-return locations. Board Chair Colm Willis had criticized County Clerk over the issue, but Willis and Commissioner Kevin Cameron ultimately voted to approve the agreement. Election officials across Oregon are encouraging voters to return ballots early and use official drop boxes, rather than risk delays with postal delivery. Voters can check the county’s election website for approved locations and instructions.
