Federal Authorities Arrest 14 Violent Offenders Released From Oregon Prisons Despite ICE Detainers

Posted on November 2, 2026

PORTLAND, Ore. — Federal authorities have arrested 14 people convicted of violent crimes who were released from Oregon prisons or jails despite immigration detainers filed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The arrests were announced by U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon Scott Bradford, who said the individuals had convictions involving serious offenses, including rape, child sexual abuse, kidnapping, assault, domestic violence and other crimes.

The arrests follow two court-approved petitions filed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office seeking information from four Oregon counties to help locate more than 40 noncitizens convicted of violent offenses.

The petitions, filed October 1, 2025, and April 1, 2026, involved Clackamas, Marion, Multnomah and Washington counties. Federal authorities sought assistance locating individuals who had been released from custody despite ICE immigration detainers.

The U.S. District Court approved the requests on November 24, 2025, and June 5, 2026. The court determined that Oregon law allows state law enforcement agencies to exchange information with federal immigration authorities.

All four counties complied with the court orders, allowing federal officials to locate and arrest 14 individuals so far.

Homeland Security Investigations special agents worked with ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations to make the arrests. Authorities said some arrests occurred during the court proceedings, while others followed the court-authorized information-sharing process.

U.S. Attorney: Public safety remains priority

Bradford said the arrests demonstrate the importance of cooperation between federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.

“When offenders who have committed horrific crimes — many of them against children — are released into our communities despite federal detainers, the risk to public safety is indefensible,” Bradford said.

He added that federal authorities will continue working with county and state agencies to locate dangerous individuals and prevent further harm.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says it will continue pursuing information-sharing efforts and partnerships with law enforcement agencies throughout Oregon as part of its public safety efforts.
