SALEM, Ore. — Job seekers in rural Southwestern Oregon will have greater access to employment and career resources following an expansion of the Oregon Employment Department’s WorkSource Oregon Mobile Center program.
The western mobile center route has added eight new stops in Cave Junction, Canyonville, Elkton, McKenzie Bridge, Myrtle Point, Oakridge, Port Orford and Shady Cove. The expansion is designed to make employment assistance more accessible to people living in rural communities who may otherwise have to travel long distances to reach workforce services.
The Oregon Employment Department (OED) launched three WorkSource Oregon mobile centers in May 2026 to serve rural, frontier and Tribal communities throughout Western, Central and Eastern Oregon.
The mobile centers are equipped with computer workstations and secure internet access. WorkSource Oregon staff travel to designated communities to provide job seekers with personalized assistance and connect them with employment opportunities.
Services available through the mobile centers include one-on-one help with resumes, job applications and interview preparation. Staff can also help individuals explore career options, identify employers with current openings and navigate the job search process.
Those interested in changing careers or developing new skills can receive information about job training programs, apprenticeships and educational opportunities. Eligible customers may also be connected with resources to help overcome employment barriers, including assistance with transportation, work clothing and training expenses.
“Finding a job can be challenging, especially for people who live far from employment and training resources,” said Oregon Employment Department Director Andrew R. Stolfi. “By expanding WorkSource Oregon’s mobile center routes, we’re bringing those resources directly to more communities.”
Stolfi said the goal is to ensure Oregonians have access to the tools and support needed to find employment, develop skills and advance their careers, regardless of where they live.
Workforce Operations Director Jim Pfarrer said the additional stops will allow the department to reach more rural residents who might otherwise face difficulties accessing employment services.
The mobile centers offer many of the same services available at WorkSource Oregon’s 37 permanent locations across the state.
The program is sponsored by the Oregon Employment Department in partnership with the Oregon Department of Human Services. Mobile center staff can also connect customers with other workforce programs and support services.
Veterans and eligible spouses receive priority service, including referrals to specialized employment resources.
All WorkSource Oregon services are free, and appointments are not required.
