SALEM, Ore. — Oregonians are invited to gather at the State Capitol in Salem next week to recognize and honor the service and sacrifice of military veterans.
The Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs will host the 2026 Statewide Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, at Oregon State Capitol State Park.
The annual event will bring together veterans, military families, state leaders and community members to recognize generations of Americans who have served in the nation’s armed forces.
This year’s ceremony will include remarks from Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs Director Dr. Nakeia Council Daniels and other invited guests.
Traditional military and patriotic observances will include a presentation of the colors, the national anthem, a ceremonial wreath laying and the playing of “Taps.”
A military flyover by the Oregon Air National Guard’s 142nd Wing is also scheduled.
The ceremony will take place on the Capitol Mall, directly across Court Street from the main entrance to the Oregon State Capitol.
Admission is free, and the event is open to the public. Seating will be available. Organizers say the ceremony will take place outdoors, rain or shine, and attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather.
People unable to attend in person can watch a livestream through the Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs Facebook page.
Additional Veterans Day ceremonies, parades and community gatherings are also scheduled throughout Oregon. A statewide events calendar is available through the department.
