SHERIDAN, Ore. — A 42-year-old man with multiple outstanding arrest warrants was taken into custody Tuesday following a law enforcement operation at a rural property near Sheridan.
According to the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received information November 3 from Klamath County Parole and Probation that Jacob Busch was reportedly staying at a residence off Southwest Thunderhead Lane. Authorities confirmed Busch had multiple warrants, including warrants issued by the Oregon State Parole Board and the counties of Lincoln and Morrow.
Investigators also received information that Busch might be armed and had allegedly made threats toward law enforcement.
Yamhill County deputies established a secure perimeter around the property and monitored the residence. Because of concerns about potential weapons and threats, additional tactical resources were requested from the Oregon State Police SWAT team. A drone pilot from the McMinnville Police Department also assisted.
Detectives with the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit prepared an affidavit supporting a search warrant, which was subsequently approved.
When SWAT team members approached the property, Busch attempted to escape on foot. Deputies and tactical officers quickly apprehended him and took him into custody.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that no injuries occurred to Busch or any law enforcement personnel during the operation. Busch was transported to the Yamhill County Correctional Facility, where he was lodged.
Sheriff’s Office Addresses School Safety Concerns
The significant law enforcement presence along Northeast Cherry Hill Road prompted questions from community members about potential safety concerns at nearby schools.
The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that there was no threat to area schools during the operation. Officials said the property was well outside the city and not near any schools. Deputies also maintained a secure perimeter throughout the incident.
Sheriff’s Office personnel, including the sheriff, remained in contact with the Sheridan School District by phone and in person as the situation developed.
The district also communicated information regarding possible disruptions to afternoon school bus service.
The investigation and arrest were conducted without injuries, and authorities said the operation did not pose a threat to students or school staff.
