Today’s Newsmakers at Noon welcomed nationally syndicated radio host, Newsmax host and bestselling author Todd Starnes to talk about his brand-new book, The Golden Age: How Trump Saved America and the Future of MAGA.
At the heart of the conversation was Todd’s argument that America is entering a Golden Age—and what would have to happen for that promise to actually be fulfilled. We talked about whether President Trump changed Americans’ minds or simply gave millions of people permission to say publicly what they already believed, and Todd’s contention that Trump brought something remarkably basic back into American life: common sense.
But can those changes last? We discussed which shifts in our schools, military, government and culture could survive beyond the Trump presidency—and which could be quickly reversed by a future Democratic administration. Washington can change policy, but it can’t make Americans build strong families, strengthen their churches and communities, or teach the next generation to appreciate their country. Ultimately, maintaining a Golden Age requires something from us, too.
That led to the big question facing the America First movement: What happens after Donald Trump? Trump assembled a political coalition unlike anything Republicans had seen in decades, but can MAGA survive when his name is no longer on the ballot? Does the next leader need Trump’s personality—or the policies and principles that defined his movement?
We ended our conversation with Todd on a much lighter note, as he filled us in on the shenanigans at a recent book signing. The Golden Age: How Trump Saved America and the Future of MAGA is available now.
Elsewhere on the show, over the weekend, Hunter told Denise about Taser Gloves and, naturally, decided she needs a pair. We also weighed in on the Wilson-Owens debate—a painful watch that, from what we saw, probably didn’t change many minds.
And for your reading list, we shared 40 Rules for Living Around Other Humans along with a massive spreadsheet of recommended conservative books courtesy of In The Know Idaho. The question is: How many have you already read?
