New Hotel Proposed for Downtown Salem

Posted on December 8, 2018

A new hotel near the Salem Convention Center and near Salem’s Riverfront Park is being proposed for downtown Salem. The Statesman Journal reports the $43 million hotel would have 123 rooms with a lobby bar and a rooftop bar. It would be a suite-style property with studio and one-bedroom suites designed for extended stays. They say hotel will be geared toward serving legislators, business officials and people who come into town as adjuncts for nearby colleges but don’t want an apartment. The proposed location is 195 Commercial Street Southeast. To build the Salem hotel, developers need to raise $25 million through the qualified opportunity fund. The rest they say they can drum up through other sources.
